The Schools Library Service provides a wide range of library services for teachers and schools.

Services we offer...

Project Loans - You can request a project loan of resources including:

• Books
  Posters
  Videos
  CDs
  DVDs

Project loans support your teaching topics for the term.
Our resources offer support across the curriculum including primary modern foreign languages.

Artefact Loans - The SLS has a large collection of:

• Historical artefacts
  Religious artefacts
  Cultural artefacts

Whiteboard Active CD ROMs - SLS offer a wide range of subject areas for interactive learning and teaching. These can be ordered in advance.

Art Prints & Photo Packs - These items may be ordered in conjuction with other loan items or can be requested separately, SLS offers a wide range of subjects to support teaching topics.

Class Sets, Play Sets & Author Sets - Sets of books are available for loan for one term and can be ordered in advance.
These include class sets (30 books of the same title) and author sets (different books by the same author illustrator).

CDs & DVDs - These may be included in project loans if available but can also be requested separately.
CDs and DVDs may be ordered to accompany class sets and author sets, however separate subject areas are available.

Advisory Services - You can get help and advice on all aspects of your school library:

• Selection of materials
  Planning and organising your library
  Computerised library management systems
  Talks and display collections on a variety of subjects, for children, parents and teachers.
  Surveys of the library and advice on library development
  Book buying/New books

Training Courses - Occasional courses on all aspects of library management and resource provision for secondary school librarians, teachers and teaching assistants in primary schools.

Large Print - The SLS has a selection of large print fiction that can be requested.

How to borrow resources...

You can get in touch with the SLS to borrow resources in diferent ways:

• Phone, fax, email or visit
  Project loans for up to a year
  Make requests in advance of term required
  Book early especially for class sets and artefacts

We also welcome you to come and chose your own resources from the library, at the Professional Excellence Centre, Acre Lane

Request forms and resource lists are available on request or on the Wiral Learning Grid

Delivered and collected at the beginning and end of the term.
